Then why is India pursuing it after 50 years carrying out an “independent” but pro Russia policy.

India did detonate an atomic bomb and started the arms race in the sub-continent.
India seems to be playing Iran card very well – by negotiating a pipeline through Pakistan.
India’s accession of Kashmir, Junagadh and Goa and its overt and covert instigation of East Pakistan Awami League.
This may also force China to get closer to Russia and have more instigating role in M-E to adversely affect US interest in that area.

Ms Rice indicated that IAEA will monitor activities of India – same adminsitration did not believe IAEA when it came to Iraq.

What impact it will have on Islamic States if US becomes a protector of India as it is for Israel on Kashmir issue.
